3D Studio Max is a 3D program - it does models, but it can also do three-dimensional figures, like the one in the upper right-hand corner of this site. You can also use Photoshop to do this - there are some pretty easy tutorials on how to do this.

I see all of the photoshop tutorials but that is my strong suit. Where is a good place to find tutorials on 3d max?

I would suggest this (http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/3dsmax.php?tut=16). I've worked with a few of their tutorials, they are pretty good.

MSN heh I was going to say...
Ryan do you actually use msn? Just to ease my curiosity. I don’t mean to plague this forum with the dumb questions but I wouldn’t have posted unless I did try a search first. I think my problem is lack of knowledge over this area, such as what are images like the one in the top right hand corner called? Makes it tough to search without knowing the name of the target heh. Other than that, I only find sights that give tuts on animation with 3d max mostly. So just a few more pointers and ill get off your back :D
thanks once again

I use all sorts of programs One of them being 3ds max and I am trying to learn Maya's UI however it is such a daunting task.

I also use:

Flash MX 2004 Pro
Combustion 4 from Discreet
Poser 6 / Vue Esprit 5
RealFlow 3.0 for 3dsm and Maya

and many other plugins for 3dsm and Maya.

Does anyone use blender for 3D?
Someone reccomended it to me, it's realy excellent, amazing the result you can get with it but I find it so difficult to actually use. Poser is easier.
