yes well...none of them worked for me for hotmail.com but i found a way around the filter for hotmail ;) if anyone has hotmail blocked then just type into your address bar:
https://login.passport.net

then just login there, and click hotmail and u should be in :D. mind it might not work for you if theyve blocked that as well...but try it anyway ;)

I use Proxify too. But they don't allow file downloads for non-subscribers which is the only downfall to the service.

These's "defilters" are actually called Web Proxy's or Proxy. It is used to gain access to restricted content. First, you connect to the proxy, then the proxy server access the restricted files and returns them back to you. Simple

I think he wants to get through a system that simply just blocks the page URL's. In that case you use Proxify (http://proxify.net).

Grey

Heh I got banned from the computers today, shortly after my above post. An I.T. guy called my classroom and had a rant about me searching for proxy servers and stuff. I really wanna beat them at their own game ;).

murphj
05-15-2006, 07:31 AM
hahaha! damn...lol. our IT losers i think can see what we go onto, but dont actually ban us for going onto games sites and stuff, but they block sites after a while if they figure it out (stupid dumbasses :P)

technogen
05-15-2006, 10:24 PM
what i mean is that my defilter blocks files with an extension like .exe eg/ scummvm.exe so if you can change it the filter doesn't recognise it.

Marc
05-15-2006, 10:40 PM
We get expelled if we try anything. They've got a filter-based denial system. It scans the actual HTML and blocks stuff depending on terms inside it. Very annoying, lol. The new thing is pretty hard to beat, at least at our place. *shrugs* I don't mind though. I'm gonna get higher priveleges soon anyway cos I'm gonna redesign their site. Hehe.

httpS:// instead of http:// works on some sites, such as nexopia

Also, if you got firefox on the comps some how, you can go to http://www.freshproxy.com , register, look at the free proxy lists, and use them in Tools->Options...->Connection Settings...

and use them as such:

http://www.icrona-designs.com/untitled.JPG

then you can visit most anysite like normal, but the proxy will 'die' and you will have to get a new one

it is also several reduced in speed :P

I think that students should respect why sites are blocked. Especially game related sites. Kids can download vids, demo's and mods from game related sites. These things often add to the bandwidth which the school have to pay for. If you really want to view something then view it at home.

While it is handy to get through the system I wouldn't do it all the time only when you really need to.

Well its outrageous the things they block at my school. Wikepedia is blocked now. And the majority of things you look up on google are banned as well, iv come across many even whilst studying completely appropriate things. Im ok with them banning downloads and such, but its just gone too far now. I cant visit proxies anymore because the majority of proxy servers have 'proxy' in their url. Or the word 'proxy' on the actual page. Its kinda hard to beat now.. Highly annoying. :)

I do think that sometime schools can go over the top when it comes to banning. My school went through that period where a lot of sites were randomly blocked. Lucky for me thier server blocks crashed for a week and they had to start fresh. There are a few antiproxy sites that do not have proxy in the url. It is actually possible to download these antiproxy programs and install them onto your webspace, check out Source Forge (http://sourceforge.com) and you may find something good.

You almost sound like a teacher! I understand what you are saying about the bandwidth usage but, at the end of the day, they can get a connection with unlimited usage... even if it does cost more.

I only bypass filters when I'm on a break or something, when you don't HAVE to do work. It irritates me that on my break if I have nothing else at all to do, they expect me to have fun coming to the library and use educational sites? Hell no, I want to check out the latest games and stuff, IGN, etc.

ANYWAY.

Another way to bypass is by using google.

Goto google, language tools, scroll down to where it says translate a web page and enter the website that is blocked.
This works perfectly 60% of the time, but sometimes it only shows the text of the website.

Also if your proxy sites get blocked by your admins, you can use use the google translation to access the proxy sites. This is better because it always works 100% loading all pictures and text.

Some proxies I use:

http://www.ninjaproxy.com

Alright, here's how to do it (i dont know if anyone has said it or not, i dont feel like looking). This should work on most blocking programs.

1. Obtain the site's IP address. This can be done by typing "ping www.sitename.com" without the quotes, in the Command Prompt. It will be a string of numbers like 192.111.11.1 or something.

2. type http://ipadress in your Browser.

3. Voila!

Good idea Malerick, but chances are a school or organization that blocks websites will also have administration lock downs on stuff like command prompt. Do you know the notepad script that will bring up command prompt? My friend showed me it but I forgot how to do it.

No problem! just one note... to any adventurous people...

In command prompt, you can do a lot of things, such as delete the contents of whole hard drives, add/delete users, etc. I will NOT be telling you how to do that! Just as a warning though, because of the amount of things you can do with the CmdPrompt, schools have a reason to be blocking them! Just for fun, a while back (a few months ago) i used the command prompt to send a message to every computer in the school... hehe...
Basically, this is just a warning that some technicians (esp the competent ones!) may take action just for seeing the command prompt open... so be careful!

Grey

Well I tried the cmd prompt thing at school today, through the 'view source' and notepad methods =]. Each time I tried to open the .bat file it said it was restricted due to software policies or something. Damn the IT guys..

Anyways I have a program called Xedent and it sends messages to other computers in a network, its pretty funny. I could post it up here if anyone is interested, its only 16kb and works by typing in the computers ID you want to send the message too, and the message itself. You can also specify who you want it too be from and how many times you want the message to be sent (ie. 4 million times ;)). Hehe I like it.

Stay classy.

There is/was a very very simple solution to unblock sites, although I have not tried it a while, but, last time I checked, it worked.

When at home, go to your internet explorer folder on program files, and find the file called inetwiz.exe in one of the folders. Copy this file onto a floppy or USB so that you could use it at school.

At school, run the file, on the first window, choose the LAN one, then comes up the window about proxy settings, uncheck everything (if i remember correctly). and continue, click no for setting up an email. And there you go, should work.

arch angel, they don't have a modified version of windows, it is windows customized, which EVERYONE can do, just most people don't know how. its besic programming skills, and there are programs out their that make it much simpler. I used to think it was hard bypassing internet at school... when I did, this always worked and is impossible for them to block. httpS://www.kproxy.com <---don't forget the capital S, it is mandatory. This should work on any highschool that teaches webpage designs, or any other technology class just because most browsers are not made to pickup https. but blocking https://www.kproxy.com would block all other https arranged sites, and they don't want to risk it. Just don't tell everyone about it, and you will be fine.

has anyone tried the inetwiz.exe thing? someone I know tried it and it worked perfectly, just to recall the posts on what is inetwiz.exe:

There is/was a very very simple solution to unblock sites, although I have not tried it a while, but, last time I checked, it worked.

When at home, go to your internet explorer folder on program files, and find the file called inetwiz.exe in one of the folders. Copy this file onto a floppy or USB so that you could use it at school.

the only thing that blocks the site are the keywords, just contact the webmaster of that site and ask them to remove those keywords (stated under reason blocked) from their site, and hopefully they will stay unblocked for a little bit until the school adds em to a custom block list! :)

murphj
12-03-2006, 12:13 AM
Then they lose traffic from search engines, so they're not likely to do that.

at home on internet explorer or something like that, go to view>source then look at, a tag between <head> that looks like <meta keywords="keyword, keyword, keyword"> may be the problem, if not, the blocker is pre-programmed :\

all of the other links in this thread are blocked.
i have found some alternative addys for browserninja. here are the ones that are not blocked by my library at the mo:

www.cowssay.mooo.com
www.sushibarnetwork.dreamhosters.com (tho this one just takes you to a page with links to the same site on it)
www.iwanttobea.chickenkiller.com

however, these are always coming up with network access error messages. does anybody know a more reliable way around websense? en.web-blasters.org works ok, but its probably gonna get blocked any day now...

now ive posted this, either this site will probably get blocked or all the links ive posted will get blocked. sorry...

Alright, here's what I do.

Buy a flash drive. Go to This Site (http://www.torrify.com/software_torpark.html)

This will load a browser off of your flash drive and doesn't install anything to the school computer.

I've found something interesting. filters are powered by http://jetty.mortbay.org/

is there any way to stop the filter from blocking downloads? and yes this is a challenge!

You asked this question a long time ago, but...

I did actually find a way to download files, if they're in a zip/rar file etc. What you do is click on the zip/rar file link, and select Open rather than Save. Then it should open up the screen with all the compressed files inside, then right click on the files you want to save and click Extract To... or something. It worked for me :)

And also, if you want to download .wmv or .mp3 (whatever works on WMP), just click on the link to the music file and open it in WMP, then go File>Save as!

How cool is that! :D

Heya, sorry to revive an old thread, but I'd just like to confirm that this unblocking method works (I just tried it on another system and it works)

To unblock sites are your school/work:

1) Search your C: drive for “inetwiz”
2) Once it finds “inetwiz.exe”, run the file.
3) Select “Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN)” option.
4) Hit next, and then uncheck the “manual proxy server” checkbox.
5)Once done, hit next and finish.

After doing this, all sites can be accessed.

Thanks

An MS-DOS prompt is the best way to do stuff, because most admins don't think its possible to get them and, if they do, they just can't do anything much about it.

First, open a notepad file (if your school blocks notepad, open a webpage, right click and go to view source. hey presto, notepad!). Now, write

command.com (You must type this or it will not work)

and save the file as batch.bat, or anything with the extension .bat . Open this file and it will give you a command prompt:). REMEMBER TO DELETE THIS FILE ONCE YOU'VE FINISHED!!! if the admins see it, they will kill you ;)

Well, now you've got a command prompt, it's time to visit whatever site you want. Now, there are plenty of ways to bypass poorly constructed filtering, but I'm going to take it for granted that your school has stopped these. This one, as far as I know, will never be stopped.

in your command prompt, type

ping youtube.com

or anything else you wanna visit. Now you should have a load of info, including delay times and, most importantly, an IP address for the website. Simply type this IP address into the address bar, preceded by http://, and you'll be able to access the page!

For example: http://208.65.153.238 etc.

Now, I've noticed a lot of people have been saying that there are other ways to bypass web filtering, and there are. I am only mentioning the best method I know. Others you might want to try are:

1) Using a translator, like Altavista's Babel fish, to translate the page from Japanese of something to English. This will bypass the filtering and won't translate the page, since it's already in English.

2) When you search up the site on Google, there will be a link saying 'Cache'. Click that and you should be on.

3) Use a proxy. I recommend Proxify.com. If your school has blocked it, search it up on Google and do the above. Then you can search to your heart's content:)
