In this context, the term render is used to describe a computer generated image that can be easily used to composite and create new artwork. The most popular types of renders are:

  • abstract render - the hold-all category for anything indistinct
  • character / gaming renders - images of game / film characters

The most useful character renders are on either a black, white, or transparent background - Referred to as a "cut render". There are easily dropped in and are useful for creating clan templates, logos, sigs, and wallpapers.
